Ms. Jacobson developed Inova Fair Oaks Hospital's didactic curriculum “Psychological Issues for the Post-Operative Bariatric Patient” which she teaches monthly as part of the Bariatric Department's Lecture Series. Also in association with Fair Oaks Hospital, Ms. Jacobson leads ongoing intensive support groups (10 participants per 6 week session) and presents psycho-educational lectures for a monthly support group (100+ participants). Regular topics include “Coping Skills,” “Improving Body Image,” “Recovering from Obesity,” and “Mindfulness.” Ms. Jacobson enjoys collaborative relationships with surgeons and other medical professionals and often provides in hospital bedside patient consultations and discharge treatment recommendations.

Ms. Jacobson is frequently a guest speaker at local public and private schools on the topic of eating disorders and body image. She is a certified Bariatric Support Group Leader as well as an EMDR practitioner. She has a continuing interest in working with victims of clergy sexual abuse.
