Dr. Lynn Field received her Ph.D. in clinical counseling from George
Mason University and is a Licensed Professional Counselor. The focus
of her research during her master’s degree program at Marymount
University was eating disorders, anxiety and depression in the adult
population. She continued her research, focusing on eating disorders
and other emotional disorders in the adolescent population. In addition,
Dr. Field has published book chapters on mood disorders in adolescents
as well as psychopathology in substance abusers.
Prior to joining the other clinicians at Growth and Recovery, Dr.
Field spent seven years at the Women’s Center in Northern
Virginia, specializing in treating individuals with eating disorders,
providing training and supervision to other mental health professionals,
and coordinating grant programs. She continues to maintain an active
role with the Center. Additionally, she has taught classes at George
Mason University and continues to take an active role in supervising
interns and residents. Dr. Field is a member of the Academy for
Eating Disorders and the National Eating Disorder Association.
Currently, Dr. Field works with adults and adolescents, men and
women, individuals and couples. In addition to having considerable
experience providing treatment to individuals with anorexia, bulimia
and binge eating disorder, she is also experienced in working with
individuals with depression, anxiety and who have relationship issues.
